Bio of the Artist
Leanne Bowen works as a full time painter and visual artist. She graduated in 2012 from The University of Kansas with a BFA in Painting and a BFA in Art History. Leanne has had solo and group exhibitions in Kansas City, Lawrence, Nashville, Denver, Fort Collins, St. Louis, Springfield, Los Angeles, Berkeley, Milwaukee, Madison, and Florence, Italy. This summer, she spent six weeks in Italy learning the technique of fresco painting, for future commissions painting frescos within chapels in the United States. In 2015, she visited Colorado State University, the University of Colorado in Boulder, and Naropa University in Boulder as a guest artist and lecturer. She has been commissioned by Marquette University in Milwaukee to paint the interior of an on-campus residence hall chapel and has been published in the Diocese of Madison Catholic Herald. Leanne Bowen has created work for the Institute of Faith and Culture in Lawrence, Kansas, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Fellowship of Catholic University Students. Recipient of the Eglinski Award and the Amsden Award from the Kress Foundation Department of Art History at The University of Kansas, she also has been a full scholarship recipient for the Missouri Fine Arts Academy and a Summer Program ArtLab Recipient for Kansas City Art Institute. Leanne Bowen currently works in Glennville, California and sells prints of her work and commissions by request.
