At the Horse Race

I drew this little sketch while visiting Avila, Spain. After wandering through the fortified city, I heard the rush of the horse race down below. I spent a few hours in awe of the horses speed, and how naturally the jockeys became one with the animals. That evening, I was inspired looking through a book of Degas sketches. This one is partially drawn from  "At the Race Course" by Degas and partially from some of the sketches I drew watching the horses barrel through the arena. I hope that it stirs some nostalgia for you and your home as well!
