Saint Joan of Arc heard angelic voices that would tell her what would happen. Sometimes I am sure this was so encouraging. However, one day she knew that she was going to get brutally injured during battle. They told her she would be in immense pain and also have to continue to be a leader in the midst of that. Can you imagine getting up that morning and putting on your armor anyways? I pictured her here before battle. She would have to make the long walk to catch her horse from the field it was grazing in. She had to saddle up and ride into battle knowing she was heading into suffering and defeat. Some days I feel strong and confident. But I long for courage to say yes and be strong when it is truly challenging and painful. May you be encouraged by Saint Joan of Arc today. May you say yes to our Lord even if it is challenging. May you find joy and beauty in saddling up anyways. Saint Joan of Arc, help us be strong and resilient and bring us close to Jesus. Help us say yes to what we are called to and the courage to say no to what we are not called to.
