“So I look to you in the sanctuary, to see your power and might. Your love is better than life, my lips offer you worship.” -Psalm 63:1-3
These verses from psalm 63 have always been my favorite. They remind me that my home is by the altar of God. Living in many places in my adult years, the sanctuary has always been when my heart felt most rooted. A place to go and rest. I place to linger with God. I think most practicing Christians these days really resonate with the peace and calm that comes from stepping into a sanctuary. The feeling of prayer washing over the chaos you are stepping out of.
Many of us still can’t step into churches or attend liturgies. But doesn’t God still long to be near to us? Doesn’t he still long to be close to us within the sanctuary of our hearts today? May you find time to be close to God today despite the chaos of everyday quarantined life. We can still receive His love and our lips can offer Him worship! May God truly astound you by His closeness to you today.
